Our People
Did I mention that we are a small company? Presently Sean Dalton is the principal owner of NHNE LLC and is its sole member. Hopefully soon there will be more talented folk to wrap into the fray; until then Sean is fortunate to have the support of many subcontractors, tinkerers, and wicked smart people to help him give your vision shape & form.
SEAN’S BIO
Sean began grooming himself at a young age for the building trades as a legomaniac and treefort developer during his childhood in Sewanee, TN. However it wasn’t until he was a student at Paul Smith’s College when his proclivity for construction was fully realized. While learning about the social and environmental impacts of the built environment he decided to pick up a hammer and join the sustainable building movement.
Sean officially began his building career in the summer of 2004 as a fledgling log builder with Master Craftsman Michael Frennette in Tupper Lake, NY. In addition to new log and Adirondack-style construction, Sean worked two summers with Mike at Camp Santanoni, a National Historic Landmark, restoring a log boathouse under the administration of Adirondack Architectural Heritage.

From New York, Sean migrated east to Vermont where he interned at the Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren during the winter of 2006. It was here that he picked up some formal training in the trades, taking Bridge Design/Build, Timberframing, Cob Construction, Design for Builders, and Permaculture classes. Sean continues to be a part of the Yestermorrow community as an intermittent student and as a member of the teaching staff. After cutting his teeth as a timberframer on a small barn project, he moved to Vershire, Vermont and joined Timberhomes LLC as a business partner.

Sean was fortunate to be a part of many exciting and creative projects at Timberhomes LLC that ranged from finished homes and barns to community build projects, and more. During his tenure there he was a part of virtually every facet of the business, and his responsibilities included communicating with clients, project design, drafting plans, supervising employees, web and advertising development, managing the shop, leading projects, and much more. Through his work with the company he vastly improved his carpentry/timberframing skills and knowledge of high-performance building. Some of notable projects that Sean was a part of include being the Project Lead for the Dartmouth College Organic Farm Barn and the Class of ’65 Bunkhouse at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, which is owned and operated by Dartmouth College, and securing and overseeing a Working Lands Enterprise Grant from the State of Vermont to improve the infrastructure of the shop for the production of building panels. After working at Timberhomes LLC for eight years, Sean decided that it was time to part ways with the company to strike out on his own to pursue his dream to develop pre-fabricated, net-zero homes with a natural building twist. And so he formed Natural Homes of New England LLC, and is looking forward to this new and exciting chapter in his building career.
Work aside Sean enjoys gardening, hiking, flat water paddling, and contra-dancing. He is also know to prowl the local soccer fields and frozen ponds in search of pick-up soccer and pond hockey, in that order.
